Women’s Cancer Screenings Tomorrow
For Clifton & Little Falls Residents Only
CLIFTON — In an effort to improve the health of the community, the Clifton Health Department invites women to attend the low cost women’s cancer screening on Friday, October 24, from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. This clinic is open to Clifton and Little Falls residents only. Appointments are required; call 973-470-5760 to schedule your appointment. Dawn Ammirata, Advanced Practice Nurse, is attending in the women’s cancer screening clinic. This screening includes a Pap test, pelvic exam, physical breast exam, and blood pressure reading for a fee of $25; and colorectal cancer testing kits will be available for $10. Referrals for lower cost mammography are available upon request. Mammograms are not done on site.
It is important for women age 21 and older to have Pap tests, along with pelvic exams, as part of their routine health care. However, women over age 70 do not need to be tested every year if they have had a number of normal Pap tests and have been told by their doctor they do not need to be tested anymore.
Clifton’s Public Health Nursing Supervisor, Leslie Leonard, BSN, RN, says, “A Pap test can find cancer of the cervix, a common cancer in women, before that disease moves to other parts of the body. If caught early, the chance of curing cervical cancer is very high. Pap tests also find infections and abnormal cervical cells that can turn into cancer cells. A Pap test can save a woman’s life! Make a healthy choice and get tested!”
The Clifton Health Department is a contractual health agency serving the Township of Little Falls.
