U.S. Citizenship Prep Classes
To Be Offered At Library

NEW JERSEY – The Lacey branch of the Ocean County Library, 10 East Lacey Rd., Forked River, will offer a series of seven-weekly classes for eligible immigrants seeking United States citizenship.

Classes will be held from 6 – 8:45 p.m. beginning Monday, September 8 and are for adults ages 18 and above. The test itself is not administered as part of the class. The test for U.S. citizenship is only administered by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.

To be eligible for U.S. Citizenship students must possess a permanent residence card (commonly called a ‘green card’) for a minimum of five years (3 yrs. if married to a U.S. citizen) and be able to speak English, as well as meet other qualifications.

Subjects to be covered in the class include “Introduction to the Naturalization Process,” “U.S. History,” “Reading and Writing Readiness,” and help with the “Application for Naturalization.”

More information about the class and registration can be found at the library’s website www.theoceancountylibrary.org or by telephone at 609-693-8566. Registration is required because of the limited class size.

This program is supported by the Ocean County Library’s Diversity Committee.
