Fairfax Genealogical Society – March 27-28, 2015 Conference
(Fairfax, Virginia) As part of a growing interest in family/genealogical research, The Fairfax Genealogical Society (FxGS) announces its 2015 Spring Genealogy and Family Research Conference entitled “Tips and Tricks for Researching the Mid-Atlantic and European Connections” to be held Friday, March 27 (2 p.m.-8:15 p.m.) and Saturday, March 28, 2015 (9 a.m – 3:45 p.m.) at the Fairfax Marriott at Fair Oaks, 11787 Lee Jackson Memorial Highway, Fairfax, Virginia (across from Fair Oaks Mall). This popular conference annually draws several hundred individual family researchers and genealogists from throughout Virginia, the Middle Atlantic States, and elsewhere. The conference includes nationally known genealogy researchers as speakers and consultants, as well as vendors selling a wide range of publications and items of interest to family researchers.
Registrants for the conference may select from numerous sessions on topics such as: breaking research barriers; using Internet and other research tools; African American Research; and searching specific geographic areas (this year these include: Ireland, Eastern Europe, Germany, as well as Pennsylvania and North Carolina). Guidance will be offered on using a variety of resources, databases, and electronic tools. In addition to the featured presentations, there will be opportunities for one-on-one consultations with expert genealogists. Registration cost ranges from $55 (for FxGS members for one day) to $95 (for nonmembers for both days). Dining options are available in the hotel as well as off-site in the nearby Fair Oaks Mall.
