Three Oscar Nominations
For “Cold War”!

Polish director Paweł Pawlikowski’s newest film “Cold War” is captivating audiences around the world. The story begins with Wiktor (Tomasz Kot) traveling the Polish countryside collecting folk music. While doing this he meets Zula (Joanna Kulig), and the two quickly catch each other’s attention. The film subsequently follows the romance between the two over the course of years, set against the backdrop of the Cold War. Filled with jazz music and shot in characteristic black and white, the movie really captures the feel of the times. Receiving high critical acclaim, one Washington Post review called “Cold War” a “near-perfect film.”

The Polish movie’s appeal has been recognized at many of the world’s biggest film festivals. On January 22 “Cold War” received three Academy Award nominations: Foreign Language Film, Director and Cinematography. These are the latest of many distinctions, including five European Film Awards for best director, film, actress, screenwriter and editor, as well as best director at the Cannes Film Festival. Congratulations to the “Cold War” crew on the recent nominations! We’ll keep our fingers crossed on February 24!

“Cold War” is now playing in theaters in Washington, DC and other select cities.
