Years ago I was having a conversation with a dear friend and she said to me, “you know, you never rest on your laurels”. I thought to myself, “what exactly does that mean?”
Well, as a matter of lifestyle ….I just keep trying to surpass myself… push what I could do to move in the direction that I want to go….. in my mind. But, you have to “put the pedal to the metal” too! Even with that, it seems that “I am never done”. There is always more to do and things to see and accomplish. (My bucket list keeps growing.)
Lately I have discovered that if I rewind and remove myself from the expectations of others who don’t realize that their shallow lifestyles can affect others, I can do more and feel better about myself both emotionally and physically. We sometimes don’t give a thought to there being something else.
Relationships are your biggest set-back. Whatever pattern you have let yourself fall into may have felt good in the beginning and along the way, and then kept on going around in the same cycle. To break a cycle usually something major has to come before it. Then it becomes cathartic for you to change everything within your power to do so. It is almost out of desperation to help you feel better about yourself. (The other people around you may think it is a New Beginning.) It is more than that, “you are not resting on your laurels”, and you are seeking change to grow, not to stagnate and repeat old patterns that you thought that you needed.
A New Dawn is on the horizon, one that gives you vision, a new perspective and real emotional contentment. How unfortunate that much needed life transitions can’t be sooner rather than later, and easier rather than harder.
Remind yourself that “old things fall away to make room for the New”, and embrace the changes….they come from the promptings of your inner Soul. (When we argue with ourselves, then we err, and go against our own Soul.)
THE SOUL ALWAYS KNOWS!
