The Michigan Beat 3-5-14

It is that time again for this month’s The Michigan Beat. I hope everyone enjoys reading this column each month in The Post Eagle. Remember if you have something that you would like to see in this column, please get it to me today. I would love to promote your event that has already happened or is yet to happen. Please contact me today at 258 Thornridge Ct. NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49504 or by email at rollingreporter@hotmail.com

Alex Meixner and the band have been busy playing in many different states. Some of the places where the band has been seen over the last month were at the German Club in Cape Coral, Florida, in Texas in three different places: Seaton, Austin and Tomball. There will be many more places to see this band in the month of April. Check out www.Alexmeixner.com for all the details.

Jimmy Sturr will be taping thirteen shows coming up for RFDTV. This will be something that you will not want to miss. For details on this, please call 1-800-724-0727. Jimmy Sturr also has a polka cruise coming up at the end of May 2014. Also call the above number for information on that.

Mike Schneider from Wisconsin has a lot going on with his program Pint Size Polkas. If you haven’t heard about this program… Mike Schneider travels all over the place (different states), teaching the polka to grade school children. Pint Size Polkas continues to go to schools and libraries, most recently in Wisconsin and MN. Mike Schneider with his polka band has also been playing in Wisconsin at fish fries and bakeries.

Just a few days before I wrote this column, The Michigan Beat, the band Squeeze Box came to Grand Rapids, MI. The Michigan Beat attended this dance. Squeeze Box with Molly B. & Ted Lang performed for the Germans, playing a great mix of German music and also polkas. There was also a lot great German food at this party.

Look for the Michigan Beat next month with lots more polka information.
