PSAA’s District 7
New Year Concert –
One of the Best Ever!
Seven member choruses of the Polish Singers Alliance of America recently gathered in Wallington, NJ to celebrate the New Year and Christmas-Past in music and song.
Conducted by Janusz Sporek, Choral Director of District 7, combined choruses sang acappella during the 12:15 Polish Mass at the Church of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus in Wallington, NJ. Close to 120 singers travelled in from New Britain, CT; Greenpoint and South Brooklyn, NY; Philadelphia, PA and nearby Passaic and Wallington, NJ to sing their favorite Polish Koledy for the last time celebrating Christmas – Past in their grand finale Christmas Concert of the season.
Yaga Chudy, President of District 7, greeted all assembled and introduced Anna Matlewska, who announced the program, assisted by Andrzej Wisniewski, presenting the participating choruses with interesting historical information about their dedicated existence and choral directors.
In addition to choruses singing their selections, guest artist Dorota Huculak, vocalist, sang three koledy which she accompanied herself with her guitar; The Podlalanie Children’s Mountaineer Group accompanied by instrumentalists sang their selections; and Justyna Giermola, Soprano, enhanced the program’s finale singing “O, Holy Night” together with combined choruses, piano accompaniment by Jaroslaw Kaczynski and directed by Janusz Sporek, District 7 Choral Director.
After the concert, all choruses and guests proceeded to the church hall for a generous thank you buffet before heading for home.
