Prince Albert and President Komorowski In North Africa Democracy Talks

18.10.2012 – Prince Albert II of Monaco, during a three-day trip to Poland, discussed the promotion of democracy in ‘Arab Spring’ countries during talks with President Komorowski on Wednesday.
“I would like to express the hope that we will find a formula with which to support each other to the benefit of democracy in Tunisia,” President Bronislaw Komorowski said after an hour long meeting with Prince Albert II, the son of Rainier III and actress Grace Kelly. Prince Albert, who arrived in Poland on Wednesday accompanied by his wife Charlene, who he married last year, said that through its history, Poland had been a bold promoter of the “European idea”: “but now we must focus on the future,” he said. President Komorowski thanked Monaco for being a major financial contributor to the Auschwitz Museum and other charitable works in Poland. Prince Albert visited the museum at the site of the former Nazi German death camp on Friday. Prince Albert mentioned that he was first invited to visit Poland in the spring of 2010 by the then president, Lech Kaczynski, who died in the Smolensk air disaster in April of that year. On Thursday, the royal couple traveled to Krakow for a meeting with Mayor Jacek Majchrowski and a visit to Wawel Castle. (pg)
