The Polka Lovers Klub of America staged a two day fest at Fountain of the Sun, a retirement community in Mesa, Az near the beautiful Superstition Mountains. The band line up covered the gamut of genres – the Leon Olson Band, the Softones, Sylvia’s AZ Band, the Varitones, and Julie Lee & her White Rose Band – providing 6 hours of dancing each day. All of these bands reside in the area for the season (the Varitones are here year round) and perform frequently, delighting us all.   The hall and the grounds are quite beautiful, so even if you’re a sitter and not a dancer you’d love the place. From the veranda that encircles the hall the mountains and golf course are visible providing a very serene setting reminiscent of several resorts in the Catskill Mountains. For this event the hall was filled both days with lively dancers. Three bands played each day and at the end of the day all three bands gathered together to jam. The energy was palpable, rousing everyone onto the floor.
