Starting November 11th, Polish visitors began traveling to America without applying and paying for US visas at consulates in Warsaw and Kraków. On the basis of their passport they are now able to spend up to 90 day in the USA as tourists or business people. The starting date was obviously chosen to coincide with the Independence Day holiday, the anniversary of Poland’s 1918 re-emergence after 123 of foreign occupation. “The inclusion of Poland into the Visa Waiver Program is a testament to the special relationship that exists between our two countries,” noted Acting Homeland Security chief Kevin McAleenan. “The primary goal of the program is to encourage travel while increasing security,”he added.
