Pauline Celebrations
Every year on January 15th the Pauline monks all over the world celebrate the Solemnity of St. Paul the First Hermit, the patron of the Order. St. Paul is considered by the tradition of the Church to be the first hermit. He was a Christian, living in Egypt during the third century. When he was about 16 years old, being afraid of the persecutions, he fled to the desert. After the persecutions of Christian in the Roman Empire were over, Paul decided to answer God’s call and stayed in the desert to be alone with God, where he lived for about 90 years. As a first hermit, he is a model of prayer and perseverance not only for monks but also for all the faithful.
Pauline Fathers and Brothers in United States have also honored their patron saint during the Sunday Masses at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa, in Doylestown, PA. These celebrations have been proceded by the novena hymns sung for nine consecutive days in honor of St. Paul during the daily Mass at the Shrine at 11:30 AM.
The main celebrations of St. Paul the First Hermit took place during the Masses at 11 AM in English and 12:30 PM in Polish. The Solemn Mass at 11 AM was presided by Fr. Krzysztof Drybka, the Prior of Pauline Monastery. In his homily, Fr. Prior spoke about the life of St. Paul and the difficult conditions of the desert, where he spent most of His life in solitude with God. St. Paul is also a patron saint of children. For this reason at the end of the Mass, Fr. Prior gave a special blessing for all the children.
The Polish solemn Mass celebrated by Fr. Mikolaj Socha, Provincial of the Pauline Order in USA, took place at 12:30 PM. The Mass was also concluded with a special blessing of children.
On Monday, January 16th, we have celebrated at the Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa the Feast of Mary, Queen of Hermits, Mother and Patroness of the Pauline Order. It was a special day during which the Pauline Fathers and Brothers have consecrated themselves anew to the Blessed Mother. The solemn conventual Mass was celebrated in the Chapel of Our Lady of Czestochowa, by all the Fathers, presided by Fr. Joseph Olczak.

Paulińskie świętowanie w USA
Dnia 15 stycznia każdego roku zakonnicy Paulińscy na całym świecie obchodzą uroczystość św. Pawła Pierwszego Pustelnika, patriarchy Zakonu Paulinów. Również Paulini posługujący w Stanach Zjednoczonych tego dnia uczcili swojego patrona. Św. Paweł był wspominany w czasie wszystkich niedzielnych Mszy Świętych w Sanktuarium Matki Bożej Częstochowskiej, zwanym Amerykańską Częstochową, w Doylestown, PA oraz w czasie nowenny, popularnie zwanej „Pawełkami”, śpiewanej wraz z wiernymi, która poprzedziła uroczystość św. Pawła.
Główne uroczystości odbyły się w czasie Mszy Świętej o godzinie 11 w języku angielskim oraz o 12:30 po polsku. Uroczystej Eucharystii o godzinie 11 przewodniczył o. Krzysztof Drybka, Przeor Klasztoru Paulinów w Doylestown. O. Przeor w swojej homilii przywołał życiorys św. Pawła, podkreślając przy tym trudne warunki pustyni, na której przeżył swój żywot nasz patriarcha. Św. Paweł z Teb jest także uznawany za patrona i szczególnego opiekuna dzieci. Dlatego też pod koniec Mszy św. o. Drybka wygłosił krótką katechezę o św. Pawle skierowaną właśnie do dzieci oraz udzielił im specjalnego błogosławieństwa. Miłym zaskoczeniem dla Ojców i Braci Paulinów było także spontaniczne dziękczynienie wiernych za ich codzienną posługę w Sanktuarium Matki Boże, wyrażone przez wręczenie bukietu kwiatów dla każdego zakonnika.
Sumie odpustowej w języku polskim przewodniczył o. Mikołaj Socha, Prowincjał Zakonu Paulinów w Stanach Zjednoczonych. Ta uroczysta Msza była połączona wraz ze śpiewem tradycyjnych „Pawełek” ku czci naszego świętego patrona. Na koniec Eucharystii, o. Prowincjał udzielił również błogosławieństwa wszystkim zebranym dzieciom.
Nasze zakonne świętowanie kontynuowaliśmy także w poniedziałek 16 stycznia, obchodząc Święto Matki Bożej Królowej Pustelników, szczególnej patronki i opiekunki naszego Paulińskiego Zakonu. Uroczystej Mszy Świętej konwentualnej w Kaplicy Matki Bożej, w czasie której ponowiliśmy nasze przymierze z Maryją, przewodniczył o. Józef Olczak.
