Passaic County’s After-Holiday Computer & Electronics Recycling Collection
NEW JERSEY – The Passaic County Office of Solid Waste & Recycling Programs will hold an “After-Holiday Computer & Electronics Recycling Collection” event on Saturday, January 12, 2013. This event will be held from 9 am to 2 pm, at the Passaic County Para-Transit Facility, 1310 Route 23 North in Wayne (behind Ski Barn) with a snow date of Saturday, February 2, 2013. According to Nina Seiden, Solid Waste & Recycling Programs Manager, almost all types of computer and electronic equipment will be accepted, including monitors, hard drives, printers, keyboards, modems, copier and fax machines, televisions, radios, VCRs and stereo systems, as well as CD players and old telephone systems. Ink jet and laser toner cartridges are also now accepted. “Especially at this time of year, there is a need to safely discard of unwanted computer and electronic equipment, when many people have just received these items as brand new gifts. By participating in this event, Passaic County residents and businesses will be recycling this e-waste into other useful products, keeping them out of our diminishing landfill space, and prohibiting a variety of toxins, such as lead, mercury, and cadmium from entering our groundwater, plus, now in New Jersey, it’s the law”, Seiden said. The event is free for residents. Businesses must pre-register. For further information, please call the Passaic County Office of Solid Waste & Recycling Programs at (973) 305-5738.
