Passaic County Offers Clean Up Grants To Non-Profits

NEW JERSEY – The Passaic County Office of Solid Waste & Recycling Programs announces the ongoing availability of Clean Communities mini-grants for non-profit organizations within Passaic County, in order to help keep Passaic County clean and litter-free for all of its citizens. According to Nina Seiden, Passaic County’s Solid Waste & Recycling Programs Manager and Clean Communities Coordinator, in order to promote this litter abatement program, grants of $300 each are available to non-profit organizations which participate in a cleanup of an area such as a park or a stream which has become unsightly and unsanitary due to an abundance of litter, which can include graffiti, storm debris and other unwanted trash. Grant funds are designed to cover expenses associated with these cleanups such as bags, gloves and tools. Non-profit groups are required to fill out an application prior to their cleanup in order to first be accepted into the Clean Communities grant program. Among the requirements, participants must be at least 14 years of age, and non-profit organizations must provide proof of liability insurance. In order to obtain a Clean Communities grant application and a complete list of program guidelines, please call Passaic County’s Solid Waste & Recycling Office at (973) 305-5738.
