Panacea – Hygiene

The words for today are PANACEA and HYGIENE. Both are women and sisters. They are the daughters of the man who was the doctor on the ARGONAUTS’ ship. He was AESCULAPEIUS (or AESCLEPIUS) the god of medicine.

PANACEA means – A REMEDY FOR ILLS.
HYGIENE means – A SCIENCE FOR PROMOTING HEALTH.

AESCULAPIUS was a Greek hero later became the god of medicine and healing. The main attribute of AESCULAPIUS is a physician’s staff with a snake wrapped around it. This is how he was distinguished in the art of healing and his attribute still survives to this day as the symbol of the modern medical profession. One day AESCLEPIUS offended the great god ZEUS (JUPITER) by accepting money in exchange for raising the dead. In the eyes of Zeus this action upset the natural order of the universe. Zeus sent down a thunderbolt killing AESCLEPIUS.
