CLIFTON, NJ – The 2023 Matt “Garbo” Grabowski Music Scholarship was 
awarded this year to Mia Gaunt at the Clifton High School Awards Ceremony held on June 13th, 2023. The scholarship in the amount of $1,000.00 along with some of Matt’s recordings were presented to Mia Gaunt by Christine Witmyer on behalf of the Athenia Business Association.
The Athenia Business Association of Clifton established this scholarship in memory of Matt Grabowski. The ABA and the Grabowski family wanted to continue Matt’s legacy of giving back to the community, and to perpetuate his passion for music by offering a scholarship to a deserving Clifton high school graduating senior who also has a passion for music, and wants to pursue a career in music.Matt’s creativity knew no limits…. he was a musician, singer and song writer, and also helped others to produce their songs.
Matt, a Clifton graduate and former Clifton Councilman (2010-2015), was also known in the community for his dedication to Clifton, especially the Athenia section. He always strived to make the community better and wanted to give back to the city he loved.
