Kelly Witkowski Appointed New Executive
Director of Susan G. Komen
North Jersey Affiliate
Summit, NJ – November 9, 2015 – Susan G. Komen North Jersey announced the appointment of Kelly Witkowski as its new Executive Director. Witkowski joins the North Jersey Affiliate after serving as Vice President of Development for Metro New York at the American Lung Association® of the Northeast.
“Our Board of Trustees conducted a thorough and deliberate selection process, and we believe that Kelly’s breadth of experience, working to address health issues that affect the community, is exactly what our Affiliate needs right now,” says Karen Meleta, President of the Komen North Jersey Board of Trustees. “We work with thousands of people each year to increase awareness of breast cancer and to raise funds for research into its cause, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure. With her leadership, nonprofit and business experience, Kelly is well-equipped to guide our Affiliate in its mission and growth. The Board is looking forward to working closely with her as Executive Director.”
Prior to the American Lung Association of the Northeast, Witkowski held positions of increasing leadership at the March of Dimes® Central Jersey Division; she started as Community Director and quickly advanced through the ranks to hold the Division’s most senior position, that of Executive Director. Her experience includes fundraising, securing and managing sponsorships and annual gifts, event planning, volunteer recruitment and supervision, and promotion of mission awareness.
Witkowski, who is a resident of Bridgewater, NJ, began her tenure on October 5, right in the midst of the Affiliate’s busiest time—National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. “I am honored to have assumed the role of Executive Director for Komen North Jersey, and to be a part of furthering its mission,” says Witkowski.
“This organization is a beacon of hope for Northern New Jersey residents. Komen North Jersey provides real-time help, but also helps fund ground-breaking national research programs aimed at finding the cures for breast cancer. I look forward to working with the staff, members of the board, the medical community, and our many dedicated volunteers to continue saving lives.”
