It’s HOT In Afghanistan
Won’t You Please Help Our Troops
NEW JERSEY – Volunteers from the Clifton Cares Project will be meeting again in July to box supplies for our soldiers in Afghanistan. This is our last packing until September.
It is 118 degrees in Afghanistan and our troops can use some cool refreshments. On your next trip to do your shopping, please add to your list… freezer pops, lemonade or ice tea powdered packets. Of course, cookies and candy are welcomed in any weather.
The committee has met every 2 months since August 2010 and mailed over 3000 packages to our soldiers. We are always in need of monetary donations so we can continue with the mailings. Cash donations from friends and businesses have been wonderful but with the increase in postage this year ($14.85 per package), it has created a concern that we may limit the number of packages we can do for the balance of the year.
Please continue bringing supplies to City Hall and/or make a donation towards postage. Stop and see Lizz Gagnon at Clifton City Hall Tax Office with your cash or check or mail it to her at City Hall (Lizz Gagnon, c/o Clifton City Hall, Tax Assessor’s Office, 900 Clifton Avenue, Clifton, New Jersey 07013). Checks should be payable to Lizz Gagnon and earmarked as Clifton Cares. The minimum fee for a Priority flat rate box is $14.85, so your donation for 1 box would be fantastic, and more would be even better.
The needed supplies are hand sanitizer, mouthwash, deodorant, toothpaste, bodywash, shampoo, shaving cream, baby powder, Gold Bond powder, lip balm, flossing items, disposable razors, white socks, visine, gum, hard candy, individual powder drinks i.e; ice tea or lemonade. They enjoy magazines, crossword puzzles and suduko books. Hardcover books are too heavy to ship, so only paperbacks please.
Our last packing before the fall is in a few weeks, so please drop off your donations by July 15th at the box in City Hall,
If you have any questions please email Lizz at gags2120@aol.com or call her on her cell at 973 818- 8141
We thank our local newspapers for their ongoing support in getting this request to Clifton citizens!
