Deadline June 30th!
HAMTRAMCK, Mich. – The Piast Institute is sponsoring its third annual Irena Sendler Art Contest open to all ages. The contest will end June 30th and all entries must be postmarked by then. There will be three prizes given in order of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. Art in the form of photography, drawing, painting, and graphic design are eligible as long as it fits in the theme of “My Polish/Polish American Christmas” and “Christmas in Poland”. Winners will have their artwork displayed and featured on Piast Institute’s annual Christmas card. You do not have to be of Polish descent in order to be eligible.
The contest honors Irena Sendler one of Poland’s great heroines who risked her life to save over 2,500 Jewish children from the Holocaust. This year marks the 6th anniversary of her death. The development of the artistic ability of children and youth is a fitting tribute to someone who risked so much so that children could live.
All art projects must be postmarked by June 30th in order to be eligible for prizes. Find the Piast Institute on Facebook at: www.facebook.com/Piast.Institute and stay up to date.
