Clifton Mayor James Anzaldi Welcomes Icon To Clifton
CLIFTON, NJ, May 13, 2015 – Clifton’s Mayor James Anzaldi welcomed American Soccer League expansion team Icon FC to its new headquarters in Clifton at a ribbon cutting ceremony on May 13th. The team’s 18 players hailing from NJ and other states, Portugal, Brazil, Uruguay, Peru, France, Mexico, Poland, Peru, China, and Colombia, plus coaches, corporate sponsors and staff joined in the ceremony that opened the doors of their new headquarters in the former North Jersey Chamber of Commerce office at 1033 Route 46, Ste. Formerly headquartered in Montville, NJ, Icon will now have access to the Athenia Steel Park. “We’re grateful to the city of Clifton and the Department of Recreation for access to our new headquarters and practice facilities,” stated Greg Bajek, Icon team owner, former coach and retired professional soccer player in Poland and the USA. “Part of our mission as a team is to help youths develop a love for soccer and improve their athletic skills. We are looking forward to representing Clifton in the professional soccer world and providing free soccer clinics to Clifton youths as our way of giving back to the community and helping to foster a lifelong activity they can enjoy.”
Icon FC with the sponsorship support of OASIS Orthopedic & Spine Integrated Services, left for a 10-day goodwill competition tour of China on Sunday, May 17. Icon, already in first place in the American Soccer League this season, challenged Chinese pro soccer teams at the following matches:

- Thursday, May 21 vs Guanzhou R&F (China Premier League)
- Monday, May 25 vs Hong Kong Eastern Football Club (Hong Kong’s Super Division}
“Icon FC is a stepping stone to the highest level of professional soccer competition,” noted Bajek. “We provide the training and experience that readies them for the next levels of competition.
