Harriet “Jadzia” Barwick Passes On

NEW JERSEY – Harriet (Jadzia) Barwick (nee Lacz), 82, of Wyckoff, formerly of Paterson, passed away peacefully with her sons at her side on Dec.1. Harriet was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth’s Church of Wyckoff.

harriet-barwick-photoBeloved wife of the late James (Jim) Jr. for 53 years. Devoted mother to James (Jim) III, John and wife Marcie, and Robert. Devoted sister to John, Stanley, Stephanie Zonenberg and late brother Franklin. Adored grandmother (Babcia) to Erica, James, Cameron, Andrea, Katelynn, Krystie, Ryan, Brendan, Meghan, Jillian and Kendra. Loving aunt to many nieces and nephews, whom she adored.

Harriet graduated from Mt. St. Mary’s Academy HS in Watchung and from Montclair State College with a BS, MS and Doctoral Equivalency. She was a lifelong educator who retired from a 35 year career in Paterson NJ’s Eastside HS (SAGE).

Harriet was passionate about the theater, arts and music. She was proud to be a member of the Polish University Club/PUC Scholarship Committee, Kosciuszko Foundation/Pro Art League (NY), Little Sisters of the Poor, as well as numerous other clubs. “Babcia” or “Ciocia Jadzia” was always the life of the party and will be remembered and sorely missed by her many friends and relatives.

A Memorial Mass will be held on January 7, 2017, 10AM at St. Elizabeth’s Church, 700 Wyckoff Ave, Wyckoff NJ.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Polish University Club, Kosciuszko Foundation and the Wyckoff Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
