Hamtramck Drug Free Community
Coalition Announces Next
Prescription Take Back Day
Hamtramck, MI- The Hamtramck Drug Free Coalition (HDFCC) in partnership with the Hamtramck Police Department is pleased to announce their participation in the upcoming National Prescription Take Back Day April 30th. The community is asked to bring old, unused or expired medication to the Hamtramck CVS location where there will be a temporary box for collection. Collection will be from 10am until 2pm.
The permanent drop box is available 24 hours, 7 days a week at the Police Department lobby (3401 Evaline Street, Hamtramck, MI). Returning prescription medications to a proper receptacle helps curb prescription abuse and prevents water supply contamination. At the Take Back Day, HDFCC staff and the Hamtramck Police will accept prescription medication, over-the-counter medicine, medications for pets, prescription ointments and vitamins. They will not, however, accept liquid medications or any sharps. Mark out all personal information from prescription labels before disposing in the box.
The Hamtramck Drug Free Community Coalition is excited to provide this valuable service to the community and thanks the Hamtramck Police Department for its continued support of youth substance abuse prevention programming in Hamtramck as well as the Piast Institute, which hosts the coalition and its activities.
