POLISH HISTORY ON BOARD GAMES
Brooklyn Public Library in Greenpoint, 107 Norman Ave.
These workshops are a great occasion to develop knowledge about the history of Poland, meet new people, and have fun while playing board games. We will play “Queue”, “Chivalry Game: Battle of Grunwald”, and “Memory ’39”. For Polish and English speakers! Participation is free of charge.
Program:
Board game: “Queue”
08.07.2014, 6 pm – 7:30 pm. Compound chocolate and other words that from a bygone era.
09.04.2014, 6 pm – 7:30 pm. Polish independent scene – Polish 80’s music as a testimony of time.
Board Game: “Chivalry Game. Battle of Grunwald”
09.11.2014, 6 pm – 7:30 pm. Władysław Jagiełło, the king from the statue in Central Park – the story behind Battle of Grunwald.
09.25.2014, 6 pm – 7:30 pm. The clergy, knights, burghers and peasants. Who would I be in the Middle Ages?
10.09.2014, 6 pm – 7:30 pm. Gall Anonymous – medieval literature as a source of historical knowledge.
10.23.2014, 6 pm – 7:30 pm. Jagiellonian University – the story of the oldest university in Poland.
Board game: “Memory ‘39”
11.06.2014, 6 pm – 7:30 pm. September 1st, 1939 – the day that World War II started.
11.13.2014, 6 pm – 7:30 pm. How it all started? Literature describing the beginning of World War II.
11.20.2014, 6 pm – 7:30 pm. September 17th, 1939 – the day that the Red Army entered Polish land.
12.04.2014, 6 pm – 7:30 pm. Polish Underground State – activity and organization of the Home Army (Armia Krajowa, AK).
