Grandparents mean a lot in our childrens’ life. They take care of them, help them and always give them good advice. On Sunday January 20, 2013 children from the Polish CCD at Blessed John Paul II in Perth Amboy, N.J. solemnly celebrated this day with their grandparents, parents, Catechists and Father Redemptorists.
The celebration started with a beautiful Holy Mass which was prepared by the children from 2nd and 5th grades. The children together with their parents wanted to thank the loving grandparents for their care, support and upbringing. We prayed to God and Our Mother of Perpetual Help to assist and protect them. We all expressed our gratitude through prayers, singing and beautiful wishes.
After the Holy Mass, grandparents were invited to a celebration in the school auditorium. The auditorium was beautifully decorated by the children. The paintings and decorations were made by the children who participated in the contest which was titled: “My Happy Childhood With Grandparents”.
The children performed for their grandparents by presenting poems and songs. Then the “Concert of Wishes” took place. Everyone listened to beautiful, old Polish hits such as “Autumn Roses” by Mieczyslaw Fogg, songs by Jerzy Polomski, Seweryn Krajewski and the unforgettable song “Cafes” by Irena Jarocki. We all had a good time listening to the music and wishes, drinking coffee, and enjoying the delicious cakes and cookies.
It was a nice and unforgettable afternoon for all: grandparents, children, as well as the parents.
This day was prepared with love and special gratitude for all the grandmothers and grandfathers.
We would like to thank all who participated and helped in this great event, but especially our grandparents for their honorable presence.
We want to thank our grandparents, one more time, for their love and help, and we wish them all God’s blessings, a lot of health and joy.
We also want to invite you to our Blessed John Paul II Parish in Perth Amboy where with God’s help great things as this celebration happen. We welcome everyone to the parish and to our Polish religious education program every Tuesday from 6-7:30 PM. We guarantee an unforgettable experience.
