Gills Win Primary Elections

By Jim Dombrowski

NEW JERSEY – Essex County Commissioner Brendan Gill, a lifelong resident of Montclair and long time Essex County Commissioner (formerly know as Freeholder), won his Essex County Primary for Commissioner-at-Large. His real joy that day was seeing his wife win her Assembly race in the 27th District. Alixon Collazos-Gill ran on a ticket with long time Senator Richard Codey and Assemblyman John McKeon. The heavily Democratic District includes Montclair, Livingston and Clifton.  Winning the Primary is usually a forerunner to winning in November and the General Election.  The Gills who have two children received congratulations from Congresswomen Mickey Sherrill, who’s Congressional District also includes Montclair. Brendan’s dad is a Montclair High School teacher who has inspired his son and wife to always pursue diversity over self.  Alixon Collazos-Gill was born in Columbia and is a Rutgers University graduate. The mom and wife has always been involved with helping minorities realize their dreams in America. Upon gaining a seat in the Assembly with a win in November, she will become District 27th first Hispanic Representative.
