WASHINGTON, D.C. (October 15, 2017) – On the 200th anniversary of General Thaddeus Kosciuszko’s passing, the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Washington organized a commemorative wreath laying ceremony at the Kosciuszko Monument in Lafayette Square next to the White House. The event included remarks by representatives of the Polish and American government, as well as a performance by the United States Army Band. In his remarks Ambassador Wilczek explained, “Kosciuszko committed himself wholeheartedly to the American cause – which, meant both American independence and liberty for all. Kosciuszko’s legacy is deeply rooted here in the United States, and celebrated across the world.”
We thank all who joined us on this historic day to commemorate our hero – Kosciuszko! This event marked the conclusion of our Year of Kosciuszko commemorations.
