Foreign Minister Czaputowicz
In Washington
On Wednesday, February 6, Poland’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Jacek Czaputowicz was in Washington for the Meeting of the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS. Held at the U.S. State Department, the ministerial was chaired by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. The meeting reviewed military, stabilization and humanitarian actions taken to date by the Coalition in Iraq and Syria. Discussions also set Coalition goals for 2019, with ministers agreeing that the focus now must be on regional stabilization to prevent a resurgence of ISIS.
In his speech to the Coalition, Minister Czaputowicz emphasized continued commitment to the cause: “As a follow-up to the successful first phase of the operation, we should undertake more resolute stabilization efforts of a non-military nature.” “If we fail to achieve a lasting peace and stability, our financial and military effort will be wasted,” he added. Minister Czaputowicz also recalled Poland’s active participation in the Coalition practically since its formation. Read more here.
