NEW JERSEY – The long-awaited renovation project of the Felician Franciscan Sisters of Lodi, New Jersey – to transform Our Lady of Lourdes Hall – officially began with a Groundbreaking Ceremony held Thursday, September 3, 2015 at 1:00 p.m.
Sister Elizabeth Marie Morley welcomed the gathering of Sisters, Staff, construction workers and friends to this event and gave a brief history of the planning of the renovation.
The Rev. Damian Colicchio led the prayers composed by Sister Mary Ellen Brulinski. Mr. Phil Vaz, facility manager, and Mr. James Prisco, president of the Prisco Construction Company, also addressed those present.
Wearing official hard hats, the local ministers of the Central Convent Complex handled the shovels to break the ground. Sister Mary Patricia Kennedy, Sister Mary Ellen Brulinski, Sister Rose Marie Smiglewski and Sister Mary Joselle Ratka shoveled as the Sisters sang “Holy Ground” and “O Mary, Conceived Without Sin.”
