Elkins Park, PA – Diane Adamczyk, OD, FAAO has been named the Albert Fitch Memorial Alumnus of the Year by the Salus University Alumni Association. This annual award is presented to an alumnus/alumna of the University’s Pennsylvania College of Optometry (PCO) who has distinguished himself/herself through extraordinary service and contributions to the profession of optometry, bringing honor and prestige to the University. Dr. Adamczyk will receive her award during the Alumni Weekend 2016 Celebration Dinner on Saturday, April 2 at the Whitemarch Valley Country Club.
A 1985 PCO graduate, Dr. Adamczyk has worked at State University of New York College of Optometry for more than 30 years, currently serving as a professor and the director of residency education. She is a diplomate of the American Board of Optometry, fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and member of the American Optometric Association, New Jersey Society of Optometric Physicians and New York Optometric Association.
A true academic and professional leader, Dr. Adamczyk has authored chapters in two textbooks, Clinical Ocular Pharmacology and Primary Eyecare in Systematic Disease;published several journal articles; and presented various papers, lectures and presentations. She has chaired the American Optometric Association evidence-based optometry committee since its inception, recently publishing Eye Care for the Patient with Diabetes Mellitus andComprehensive Adult Eye and Vision Care under her direction, with Comprehensive Pediatric Eye and Vision Care slated to be released in 2016.
