BARNEGAT, N.J., May 26, 2016 –Construction on the new affordable rental community for seniors (55+) Cornerstone at Barnegat has hit the halfway mark, according to Walters Group, which is developing the project to LEED® and ENERGY STAR® specifications. The 70-unit building is scheduled for completion in mid-December 2016.
Beginning on August 1, applications will be accepted at the Stafford Park Apartments leasing office located at 321 Cook Road, Manahawkin. For 90 days after the certificate of occupancy, priority for residency will be given to qualified Sandy-impacted individuals who have been displaced by or experienced major severe storm damage. Eligible applicants will be considered on a first-come first-serve basis. For more information, contact the leasing office at 609-607-5526.
Located on the corner of Route 9 and Georgetown Blvd., Cornerstone at Barnegat is being built on a five-acre site. The modern three-story building will offer one- and two-bedroom units with balconies. Each residence will be equipped with ENERGY STAR® appliances, full size washer and dryer, dishwasher, garbage disposal, and emergency alert system. A 7,000-square-foot community clubhouse will include a long list of amenities such as a kitchen area, game room, state-of-the-art fitness equipment, and conference room.
The community is being planned to meet the needs of seniors, and will offer a variety of amenities and activities, according to Melissa DeMayo, director of property management. To promote safety, a number of security features will be added, including key fob access, intercom entry and cameras.
Located in historic downtown Barnegat, Cornerstone at Barnegat is only 15 minutes from Long Beach Island. Nearby recreational facilities include beaches, camping, hiking and boating.
The Walters Group is managing every aspect of the project from design and construction to property management.
