Come, Hear Us Sing!
This year the HEJNAL MIXED CHORUS #323 will be hosting the 63rd District VII Convention of the Polish Singers Alliance of America’s choruses on June 8th and 9th, 2013 at various locations in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, NY. Choruses of the PSAA are composed of dedicated and devoted singers whose mission has been and still is to promulgate Polish Culture through Song in America and Canada.
Participating choruses belonging to District VII include: CHOPIN SINGING SOCIETY (male chorus) #182 of Passaic, NJ; JUTRZENKA SINGING SOCIETY (female chorus) #226 of South Brooklyn, NY; OGINSKI MALE CHORUS #283 of Hempstead, NY; POLONIA PADEREWSKI MIXED CHORUS #287 of New Britain, CT; ARIA MIXED CHORUS #303 of Wallington, NJ; MARCELLA KOCHANSKA SEMBRICH FEMALE CHORUS #321 of Philadelphia, PA; HEJNAL MIXED CHORUS #323 of Greenpoint, Brooklyn, NY; and ECHO MIXED CHORUS #332 of Ridgewood, NY.
The Pre-Convention Committee, led by President Kazimierz Zebrowski, assisted by Hejnal’s Secretary, Halina Fabianski and other members, are working diligently in setting up schedules of events of the two-day convention starting with Business Sessions on Saturday at 8 am; Competition at 12:30 pm; Lunch at 3:00 pm; winding up the evening with the Grand Ball and Banquet for singers and guests at the Princess Manor, 92 Nassau Avenue.
Sunday’s schedule begins with Breakfast/Brunch at 8:30 am at the Polish and Slavic Center, 176 Java Street. The singers will be looking forward to singing at the 1:00 pm Polish Mass at St. Stanislaus Kostka R.C. Church located at Humboldt Street and Driggs Avenue followed immediately by their Gala Convention Concert of all participating choruses of District VII.
The choruses are anticipating a unique and exciting 63rd convention – one which will be remembered for many years to come. The host chorus is putting together a souvenir journal.
