Bergen County American Legion & Auxiliary To Host Nurses’ Scholarship Fundraiser
BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — Continuing an over 70-year tradition, the Bergen County American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary are again hosting the annual George F. Axt Memorial Fund dinner to benefit nursing scholarships. The event will be held on Friday, September 22, 2023, at Joseph M. Lane American Legion Post 136 in Lodi. Tickets are $20 each and include dinner, coffee and dessert. Sponsorships are also available.
This year’s event will honor the combat nursing service of Woodcliff Lake resident and Wood-Ridge native Colonel Scott J. Pomygalski, CRNA, USAR (Ret.), a member of Hillsdale American Legion Post 162. Colonel Pomygalski was deployed six times to far forward combat areas where he served as a nurse anesthetist. He served on active duty during Operations Enduring Freedom, Iraqi Freedom, Freedom’s Sentinel and Inherent Resolve, and recently retired with 33 years in the National Guard and U.S. Army Reserves.
