Coffee And Biscuit Presented At New York
International Fringe Festival-Fringe NYC

NEW YORK – Fallen Swallow/Laughing Pigeon and Flux Industries are proud to present COFFEE and BISCUIT as part of the 18th Annual New York International Fringe Festival – FringeNYC. In this production, 1950’s suburbia comes to the FringeNYC stage, drenched in Technicolor, decked in vintage TV sets with incredibly mixed messages, and chock-full of freakin’ awesome puppets that have a lot to get off their fleecy chests. COFFEE and BISCUIT will be performing at the Connelly Theater on the Lower East Side.

COFFEE and BISCUIT is a new take on Henrik Ibsen’s A Doll’s House where Nora Helmer’s perfect world of Hoovers and Jell-O molds topples around her. Pitting Ibsen’s classic story against 20th century feminist thought, this physical, quirky, puppet-filled romp, inspired by Betty Friedan’s The Feminine Mystique, provokes the audience to examine gender roles constructed by society and the media.

The production’s ensemble cast features Zoe Farmingdale as Nora Helmer, Alexandra Gellner as Dr. Smith, Cindy Kay as Carl, Melissa Diane Martin as Harold, Bethany Nicole Taylor as Betty, and Mike Racioppa as the Man. Written and directed by Teresa Ann Virginia Bayer with TJ Burleson, COFFEE and BISCUIT features actor’s costumes designed by Alexandra Rozansky, puppets by Teresa Ann Virginia Bayer, scenic design by Douglas Clarke, Sound Design by Jeffrey Dorfman, video design by Jeff Wood, lighting design by Christina Watanabe, technical direction by Matthew Carrington, and music by Jay Spriggs.

Fallen Swallow/Laughing Pigeon, a fiscally sponsored project of Fractured Atlas, is a mixed media production company dedicated to the art of storytelling through experimentation, movement, and design. Its work is based in physical theatre and text-based art and design. The work of Fallen Swallow is inspired by the hidden beauty of the everyday and the idiosyncratic tendencies of strangers, aiming to create theatre that is both audience accessible and thought provoking. Flux Industries is an instrument created to produce movement through opportunities, creativity and boldness. In every production we take the bet of bringing emerging artists together to step on stage and experiment. Whether they are actors, opera singers, acrobats, dancers, burlesque performers, spoken word artists, musicians or puppeteers, we believe in taking risks and letting everyone shine. Risk creates progress. Always. www.fluxind.com
