Clifton Candyland – A Sweet Treat

NEW JERSEY – The Clifton Recreation Department conducted their annual Clifton Candyland event on Saturday, December 12, 2015 at the Municipal Complex. The event was a sweet treat for over 624 residents who enjoyed an evening of crafts, snacks & food, games, character visits, photos with Santa, flashlight candy cane hunt, rides and a trackless train through the complex.

Participants could wander through Candyland and engage in the various activities ride the train, listen to music played by the Clifton Office of Emergency Management, guess how many candies we’re in a jar for a chance to win a stocking of toys, then have some cookies, juice and hot chocolate provided by the Clifton National Little League Division while Gerry D’s Catering offered dinner options for the participants. Candyland visitors tried their luck in our candy cane play-station and played games such as the peppermint frisbee toss, peppermint par-tee golf game, hook line & sinker candy cane fishing and candy cane hoop-la hula hoop toss for small prizes & candy.

Clifto20018Children of all ages were hunting high and low with flashlights for candy canes around the complex and some lucky participants found special candy canes which earned them an extra prize. Other participants couldn’t pass up a visit with Santa in the Clifton Arts Center taking photos, giving Christmas wish lists or a simple hug. All children who visited Santa received a candy cane and coloring books from his elves. Local resident Greg Baron performed a holiday piano performance as well that participants got to enjoy during their visit with Santa. Costumes Characters added extra excitement to the event as they strolled through the area taking photos with the children and their families.

Clifton0026The event was a huge success and enjoyed by all. This year guess how many candies we’re in a jar winners are 1st place Lisa Parada, 2nd place Gabrielle Harriello, and in 3rd place Isabel Pires. We look forward to another exciting event next year.
