Clifton Candyland
A Sweet Treat
For Residents

NEW JERSEY – The Clifton Recreation Department conducted their annual Clifton Candyland event on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at the Municipal Complex.  The event was a sweet treat for the nearly 700 participants who braved the cold and enjoyed an evening of crafts, snacks & food, games, rides, train, character visits, photos with Santa, and a flashlight candy cane hunt.

Participants could wander through Candyland and engage in the various activities, listen to music played by the Clifton Office of Emergency Management, watch dance performances by D3 Dance Academy, get temporary tattoos, guess how many candies were in a candy tower for a chance to win a bag full of toys, then have some cookies, juice and hot chocolate while Gerry D’s Catering offered dinner options for the participants.  Candyland visitors tried their luck at our candy cane play-station and played games such as the peppermint frisbee toss, peppermint par-tee golf game, hook line and sinker candy cane fishing, Frosty’s snowball frenzy and candy cane hoop-la hula hoop toss for small prizes & candy.

Children of all ages were searching high and low with flashlights for candy canes in the ever popular Candy Cane Hunt.  Other participants couldn’t pass up a visit with Santa taking photos, giving Christmas wish lists or a simple hug.  All children who visited Santa received a candy cane and small gift from his elves.  Costume Characters such as Rudolph the Red-Nose Reindeer, Solider Bear and Frosty added extra excitement to the event as they strolled through the area taking photos with the children and their families. A trackless train ride took families around the City Hall complex to enjoy the many lights and displays for the Holidays set-up on the grounds. Participants also enjoyed our Reindeer Flight School which included a swing ride, bounce house & gingerbread man obstacle course.

The event was a huge success and enjoyed by all. This year’s candy guess winners are 1st place Alex Augustowicz, 2nd place Victoria Parada and in 3rd place Jayden Walker. We look forward to another exciting event next year.  A special thank you goes to the hardworking volunteers who made this event possible as well as the event supporters and sponsors including: The Clifton Office of Emergency Management, Avenue of Flags, Clifton CERT Team, Clifton Adult Opportunity Center, The Lester Herrschaft Center, CHS Key Club, Gerry D’s Catering, JC Promotions, Colonial Pharmacy, Clifton American Legion Post #347, Liberty Tax Services, Clifton Early Learner Academy, Premier Podiatry, D3 Dance Academy, Disposable Hygiene and Kearny Bank.
