Veggie Mobile Returns To Clifton City Hall
CLIFTON, NJ – City Green’s Veggie Mobile, a mobile farmer’s market that sells farm-fresh, affordable produce, will once again be partnering with the Clifton Health Department to return to Clifton City Hall (900 Clifton Ave., Parking Lot #4), Wednesdays beginning June 7th through November 8th from 2:30 pm-4:30 pm! The Health Department will also be on site once a month offering samples of delicious recipes that feature produce currently in season at City Green.
All City Green farm stands accept cash, credit and debit cards, SNAP/EBT benefits, WIC Farmer’s Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) and Senior FMNP. Please note that SNAP/EBT, WIC FMNP, and Senior FMNP customers are eligible for a 50% discount on their purchase through the Good Food Bucks Program!
City Green is an urban agriculture and environmental education non-profit that grows fresh fruits and vegetables and distributes them throughout northern New Jersey. Part of their mission is to bring fresh produce to urban areas where customers do not have many options. The Veggie Mobile is a refrigerated vending truck that helps achieve this goal.
The Veggie Mobile sells a variety of produce items depending on the season. In the springtime, some of the vegetables for sale may include salad greens, radishes, scallions, carrots, peas and broccoli. In the summer season, you can find tomatoes, zucchini, herbs, melons, corn, potatoes, peppers, a variety of greens, and more. During the fall season, winter squash, sweet potatotes, turnips, celery, and parsnips may all be available.
The Veggie Mobile transports fresh, organic produce grown locally on City Green’s farms in Clifton and Mt. Olive, as well as seasonal fruit, honey, eggs and pantry items purchased from
other verified local producers.
The Clifton Health Department is looking forward to working with City Green to increase community access to local, fresh and affordable produce, encourage residents to try different produce items they might normally be hesitant to try, and empower them to incorporate healthy fruits and veggies into their diets. Be sure to find the City Green Veggie Mobile at Clifton City Hall, Wednesdays, beginning June 7th through November 8th, 2:30 pm-4:30 pm!
