CEPA Launches New Warsaw Office
New Presence to Expand CEPA’s Reach and Impact
WASHINGTON, May 27, 2015 – The Center for European Policy Analysis (CEPA) is proud to announce the opening of offices in Warsaw, Poland. CEPA’s first full-time presence in Europe, the move is part of a major expansion of CEPA’s reach and impact as the only U.S. policy institute dedicated to the study of Central and Eastern Europe (CEE).
CEPA’s growth comes at a moment of geopolitical uncertainty for the countries between the Baltic and the Black Sea. Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine and campaign of regional political subversion have elevated the importance of strong transatlantic ties across the region.
“The threats to security and democracy in Central and Eastern Europe are very real,” said CEPA President Wess Mitchell. “The need for U.S. engagement to strengthen our allies has never been greater. CEPA Warsaw will be a powerful tool in the fight to strengthen Atlanticism in this crucial region.”
A dedicated team of Polish and Central European experts will lead and operate the new office, which will be located in Piłsudski Square in the heart of Warsaw. The office will be a venue for research and analysis, seminars, fellowships and policy outreach on U.S.-Polish and Central European issues. Its main areas of focus will include strengthening transatlantic relations, providing strategic analysis and supporting the political and economic reform of the nation of Ukraine.
CEPA is a U.S. 501(c)(3) non-partisan public policy research institution with the mission of promoting an economically vibrant, strategically secure and politically free Central and Eastern Europe with close and enduring ties to the United States. Since its inception in 2005, CEPA has provided a forum for scholarly research, writing and debate on key issues affecting CEE countries, their membership in NATO and the European Union and their relationship with the United States. Now marking its 10th anniversary, CEPA has grown to become the premier source of expert analysis and policy engagement on U.S.-CEE relations in security, energy, economics and democratic institution-building.
