Catholic Charities Hosts Golf Classic

Sussex, Morris and Passaic County, NJ – Catholic Charities, within the Diocese of Paterson is one of the most expansive nonprofit organizations in the entire state of New Jersey. This charity supports children of all ages, families in crisis, people with addictive disorders, adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, senior citizens, veterans, and all who come to their doors across 70 programs and 3 counties.

As part of its fundraising efforts, Catholic Charities hosts the annual Wiegand Farm Golf Classic, which is one of the largest golf outings in New Jersey. This year, the event will be held on June 19th at Crystal Springs Resort, marking its 49th consecutive year. All proceeds from the golf classic will benefit the Department for Persons with Disabilities (DPD) ministry.

“The Wiegand is more than just a charity golf event; it is a celebration of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The adults from DPD play an active role in the event, volunteering in various capacities and spreading joy to all,” said Joanna Miller, Executive Director of the Department for Persons with Disabilities.

Last year, the golf outing attracted a record-breaking 400 participants across three courses. This year, Catholic Charities is once again seeking interested golfers, sponsors, volunteers, and individuals to contribute to the ministry’s mission.

“We extend our gratitude to our corporate sponsors, volunteers, and dedicated board of trustees, returning participants, and those joining us for the first time on June 19th. We encourage you to learn more about our work and get involved with our organization in any capacity. Your support will make a meaningful difference in the lives of many,” said Chris Brancato, Catholic Charities Development Director.
