Bunny Bash Was Egg-cellent
CLIFTON, NJ – On Saturday, March 26th, the Clifton Recreation Department held its Annual Bunny Bash at Nash Park. It was a great day and Clifton residents came out by the hundreds to participate in the days events. Around 1500 individuals of all ages were in attendance at the event. Breakfast with The Easter Bunny was offered, where families could purchase breakfast at Hot Grill while The Easter Bunny walked around, interacted with the children and posed for pictures.
Once breakfast was over, participants could come to the new and improved Mrs. Bunny’s Playstation and participate in a variety of activities such as the Tattoo Station, Face Painting, Bunny Basketball, Carrot Toss, Ring Around the Bunny, the Bunny Launch, Egg Golf, and the Egg Run. Participants also had the opportunity to visit with Mr. Bunny and receive a special treat and take pictures. A train ride and bounce houses we’re also available. For the first time, we conducted our Jelly Bean Guess in which participants were tasked with estimating the number of jelly beans in a jar. First prize in the event went to Gracie Kohler, while second and third place were held by Madelyn Vasilenko, and Natalee Bilello respectively. Liberty Tax Service volunteered and assisted with the various activities.
The Bunny Bash also featured an Easter Bonnet Parade in which 27 people participated. Top 5 winners we’re selected and received a trophy and special gifts. This year’s bonnet winners included Judges Favorite Child-Anaih Lazo, Judge’s Favorite Adult-Shannon Kruse, Funniest Hat-Mikey Wierzbick, Most Artistic-Dana Brown, and Most Creative/Unusual-Trinity Kruse. All participants received an entry goody bag and outdid themselves with fantastic hat creations. Over 120 kids tested their skills at the bunny hop to see how many hops they could perform on a pogo stick. This year winners included: Christian Larwa, Anissa Fraser, Ayla Fraser, Damani Redmond, Jane Vanwie, Kiara Unis-Hinojoso, Jordan Edie, Hassan Ebeid, Ariana Bermudez, and Ethan Garrido. Each winner received a trophy and stuffed animal.
Financial/In-kind donations were received by private organizations and residents of Clifton to help defray the cost of prizes for the event. This year’s contributors included: The Hot Grill, Cups of Clifton, Mr. Cupcakes, J.C. Promotions, and Liberty Tax Service. The success of the morning’s events would not have been possible without the help of our numerous volunteers in the community!
