Bergdahl Release Focuses Attention On
Efforts To Raise Funds For Wounded Warriors
Whether Bowe Bergdahl was a deserter or not, as claimed by some of his former unit members, the uncontroverted fact is that other soldiers were killed or severely wounded trying to find and rescue him. Many of these wounded and their families still suffer long-term problems.
Warriors Run, a motorcycle run through Bergen County, New Jersey on June 29, is designed to raise funds to help alleviate the financial burden on those who gave so much and their families faced with large bills and medical problems.
The Warriors Run will raise funds through rider/passenger registration and sponsors and will support the Wounded Warrior Project, Special Operations Warrior Foundation and the USO, all organizations dedicated to serving wounded military veterans.
Registration for the event will be on June 29 from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. with a starting time of 10:30 a.m. The ride will be police escorted and go through a major portion of Bergen County covering highways and beautiful secondary and terciary tree-lined roads.
Registration will be behind New Milford High School (Madison Avenue and River Road). Registration is $25 per rider, $15 per passenger and $10 per walk-in.
Following the ride there will be an after party with music and entertainment, celebrities signing autographs and posing for pictures with participants, food provided by a number of restaurants, including Hooters and Romans Pizza. Costco and BJ’s are providing for the after party as well.
Major sponsors for the run include the New York Giants Football team, Inserra Shop-Rite Supermarkets, The Marcus Group and Bergen Harley Davidson. Warriors Run, Inc. is incorporated in New Jersey as a non-profit organization with no paid employees. An IRS 501(c)3 designation is pending.
