Beef Goulash (Gulasz wolowy)


(Gulasz wolowy)

1 ½ lbs. round steak, cut up into 30 pieces
2 ½ T. flour
2 T. bacon drippings
¼ c. water
2 onions, sliced
1/3 c. canned tomato puree
½ tsp. paprika

Sprinkle the meat with salt and flour. Brown in hot drippings, transfer to a saucepan, and add ¼ cup water. Fry the onions in the drippings until golden. Add to the meat, cover, and simmer for 1 hour. Add the tomato puree and the paprika to the frying pan with the drippings. Fry for 5 minutes, stirring. Add to the meat; simmer together a few more minutes. Serve with noodles, macaroni, or potatoes and salad. Serves 4.
