Belorussian Team Wins 2017 Dzialdowo Cup

The Polish National Youth Baseball Foundation in conjunction with the Działdowo Yankees just completed the 17th annual Presidential Baseball Tournament in Działdowo, Poland. Youths from six countries participated in the indoor tournament. Besides three Polish teams, others traveled to the northern suburb of Warsaw from Lithuania, Belarus, Ukraine, Russia and Moldova. Baseball and softball are growing in popularity in Poland since the Olympic family has re-instituted the sports as an official medal activity.
President of the P.N.Y.B.F., Al Koproski, supplied the award medals for the tournament. Scott Whitmore of the United States Embassy in Warsaw presented the first place award to a team from Belorussia. The President of the Republic of Poland, Andrzej Duda, annually sponsors the Cup (trophy) that is presented to the winning team. It is for U-12 players and over 200 youths participated.
Sports Club “Yankees” organized the International Indoor Baseball Tournament. The tournament was held in the Sports Hall Działdowo in the all purpose gymnasium. The co-chaimen of the tournament were Zdzislaw Ziółkowski, a former physical education teacher for 35 years at the Secondary School No. 2 in Działdowo and longtime baseball enthusiast Zbi.
