Are You Entitled To Polish Social Security?

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Due to the Social Security Treaty between Poland and the U.S., Poles now living in the U.S. who lived/worked in Poland could become eligible for Polish retirement or disability benefits payable to them in the U.S.

Here at the Embassy of the Republic of Poland, on May 14, 2018, under the auspices of Consul General Zygmunt Matynia, a social security benefits seminar was conducted by Tomasz Szablinski – Section Head at the Department of Social Security Disability Benefits Abroad (ZUS – Zaklad Ubezpieczen Spolecznych). He was ably assisted by a senior inspector and two specialists from ZUS.

The informational seminar was conducted in Polish, set in the embassy’s luxe Blue Salon, and was attended by approximately fifty very interested people. Mr. Szablinski lectured the audience for about one hour and twenty minutes, accompanied by a program of forty very detailed and informative slides concerning the eligibility rules, regulations, application forms and payments. Afterwards all the ZUS representatives were available for private consultations with the attendees, to which many took full and appreciative advantage of.

This seminar was one of six that was conducted between May 11-19, 2018 in Houston, TX; Pompano Beach and Clearwater, FL; Washington, D.C.; New York, NY; and Boston, MA.
