Andrew Moletzsky Sr. Honored
By Holy Name Society

PENNSYLVANIA – The Holy Name Society of Sacred Heart Parish, Swedesburg, held its annual Communion Breakfast on Sunday, October 13th in the Swedesburg Fire Co. Hall. Members first attended Mass in Sacred Heart Church.

The event was highlighted by guest speaker Brad Scioli, former Indianapolis Colts football star and present Health and Physical Education teacher at Upper Merion Area Middle School and its football coach of the 7th and 8th grades unlimited weight team.

Scioli, a graduate of Sacred Heart School, Swedesburg, and Upper Merion High School in 1994, gave an inspiring talk about his football experiences as team captain of the Penn State University football team under the late coach Joe Paterno. Brad was the 5th round draft choice of the Indianapolis Colts football team where he played from 1999 to 2005.

Brad also spoke about his many life experiences. He is also a member of the Montgomery County Sports Hall of Fame. He also holds degrees from the West Chester and Wilkes Universities.

In a display of deserving appreciation, the Holy Name Society honored Andrew Moletzsky Sr. with its “Man of the Year” award for his outstanding leadership and work in Sacred Heart Parish and the society. The presentation was given by William Simmons.

Holy Name Society president Bernard S. Gutkowski Jr. gave the welcome address and also introduced representatives of the Holy Name Society of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Bridgeport.

President Gutkowski, on behalf of the society, presented “Life Membership” awards to Dennis Cottone, Carmen DeStefano, John Mateja Sr., Richard Kuras, and Carl Farrell.

A prayer and minute of silence was observed for departed members Edward Slivak, Walter B. Gutkowski, Henry Palaszewski, and Mark Naegle, and all members of the society by Rev. Tadeusz Gorka, parochial administrator of Sacred Heart Parish who also said the invocation. The benediction was said by Kevin Lawler.

Election of officers for the 2014 term, under the direction of Francis Toth, chairman, are: Bernard S. Gutkowski, Jr., president; Hilliary Kinckner, vice president; Thomas Kester, treasurer; Chris Strohm, secretary; Kevin Lawler, chaplain; Ed Dybicz, public relations.

President Gutkowski announced the annual Wigilia dinner will be held on Sunday, December 8th at 6 p.m. in the school cafeteria. The children’s Christmas Party will be held on Saturday, December 14th at 7 p.m.

President Gutkowski thanked the firefighters of the Swedesburg Volunteer Fire Co. who catered the breakfast.
