GARFIELD, NEW JERSEY – State Senator Nellie Pou (District 35) greeted new business owners Gennaro Conforti and his wife Maja Gradaska Conforti at the grand opening of their new restaurant Pesaro in Garfield. (Senator Pou who has been in the NJ State Senate since 2012 is running for re-election in November). The Senator praised Gennaro and his wife on their determination to open a new business in Garfield during these trying and most difficult times set upon by the pandemic. Gennaro, who is married to a Polish Immigrant, explained that he’s always wanted to venture into the restaurant business. Garfield is a diverse area with a multitude of ethnic groups who are always looking for good Italian food. Neighboring Wallington known for their large Polish population would find Maja (who is from Southern Poland) a most gracious host.
The Grand Opening of Pesaro in Garfield was showcased by some fabulous entertainment headlined by Bobby Valli, brother of Frankie Valli (lead singer of the Four Seasons). Complimenting Bobby was Max Zaccone (his dad owns Cornerstone Reality). Max is an upcoming talent and fabulous Elvis Presley impressionist. Rounding out the three entertainers for the evening was Bobby Memphis. Bobby was married to Linda Gail Lewis, the sister of legendary rocker Jerry Lee Lewis. Bobby has a fabulous voice. His resume is lengthy and includes working with Elvis Presley. I had an opportunity to chat with Bobby Valli and asked him about the Four Seasons, who back in the 1960’s competed with the Beatles for the #1 spot on the top 40 Charts. Bobby was very frank in pointing out that the Four Seasons were never signed by a major record label, yet they sold millions of records.
The restaurant is located at 517 River Drive, Garfield, NJ 07026. www.pesarorestaurant.com
