The Rhode Island Polonia Scholarship Foundation has recently awarded 25 ($1,000) scholarships* to high school seniors for the 2013/2014 academic year. RIPSF Scholarship Selection Committee Chair Dr. Dorothy Pieniadz (2013 Rhode Island Jefferson Award Recipient) presented the awards with President Gregory Malec presiding. Students receiving scholarships this year are:
Reverend Canon Frederick V. Slota Award (student with most outstanding academic and personal accomplishments, irrespective of financial need)

–Maya Bergandy – Tiverton High School
Dr. Dorothy Pieniadz Award (student planning a career in education or human services)

–Rachel Laudone – Westerly High School
Cumberland Polish White Eagle

Providence Polish Home Award

*Scholarships are open to high school seniors applying to an accredited post-secondary educational institution in either a two or four year program. Criteria for awards include academic achievement, community service and financial need. These one year scholarship awards are for students of Polish-American descent who are Rhode Island residents or who belong to a Rhode Island Polish-American organization.
