CLIFTON, NEW JERSEY – Clifton Cares, because of your generosity, sent 152 packages to our troops at our December packing night. We received many notes from our troops thanking us for the cookies and candy but mostly for the handwritten cards from school children, Veterans and community groups. Those notes brought smiles to their faces and they felt the love from home.
As we prepare for our March packing, we ask for your help again. On your next trip to do your shopping, please add to your basket some beef jerky, cookies, licorice, jolly ranchers, ramen noodles, cup a soup, lemonade or ice tea powdered packets.
The committee has met every 2 months since August 2010 and mailed over 3000 packages to our soldiers. We are always in need of monetary donations so we can continue with the mailings. Cash donations from friends and businesses have been wonderful but with the increase in postage this year to $15.90 per package, funding is needed.
Please continue with bringing supplies to City Hall and/or make a donation towards postage. Stop and see Lizz Gagnon at the Tax Office at City Hall with your cash or check, or you can mail it to her at City Hall. Checks should be made payable to Lizz Gagnon and earmarked as Clifton Cares. The minimum fee for a Priority flat rate box is $15.90, so your donation for 1 box would be fantastic, but whatever you can donate is fine and appreciated. Lizz Gagnon, c/o Clifton City Hall, Tax Assessor’s Office, 900 Clifton Avenue, Clifton, New Jersey 07013. Please bring your donations to City Hall by 3/10 for our next packing night.
If you have any questions, please email Lizz at gags2120@aol.com or call her on her cell at 973 818- 8141.
We thank our local newspapers for their ongoing support in getting this request to Clifton citizens. Thank you to our Clifton residents for their continued generosity. Our soldiers know that you all care.
