2015 US Open Goes Polish!

The primary languages of the women’s tennis tour have expanded in recent years, with English, Spanish and French being joined by Russian and Chinese. But a new language is making inroads on the practice courts and in player restaurants, and even in the later rounds of important tournaments: Polish. New York Times
NEW YORK, August 26, 2015 – For the past six years, once a year top tennis players from Poland and of Polish descent meet at the Consulate in its splendid Beaux Arts De Lamar Mansion in Manhattan. On Saturday, August 29, 2015 at 7.30 pm, the Consul General of the Republic of Poland in New York, Urszula Gacek will be hosting a players’ party for some of this year’s US OPEN top tennis stars.
The organizers expect to entertain over 10 players representing not only Poland, but also the countries which their Polish parents had migrated to, including the 2012 Wimbledon ladies finalist, and the 2013 Wimbledon ladies semi-finalist Agnieszka Radwańska of Poland, current number five in WTA Singles Ranking, the 2014 US Open finalist Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark, the 2013 Wimbledon gentlemen semi-finalist Jerzy Janowicz of Poland, the 2013 Wimbledon quarter-finalist Łukasz Kubot of Poland, the Australian Open 2015 women’s doubles quarter-finalist Klaudia Jans-Ignacik of Poland as well as the 2013 Wimbledon ladies finalist Sabine Lisicki of Germany, Angelique Kerber of Germany.
Besides, the long guest list includes such players as Mariusz Fyrstenberg & Marcin Matkowski of Poland, Urszula Radwańska of Poland, Aleksandra Wozniak & Gabriela Dabrowski of Canada, Alicja Rosolska, Magda Linette of Poland, Dominic Inglot of the Great Britain, Tim Smyczek of the USA to name just a few. Other special guests include the two-time Australian Open champion, and master of ceremony, Johan Kriek of South Africa.
The party will feature exquisite cuisine (courtesy of AMBER Steak House and amazing desserts of Charlotte Patisserie) and live music by famous Electra Kurtis & Ensemble Elektra.
