Learned About Event Through P.E.
Thank you for the Post Eagle, most especially the Polka Notes dance schedule pages. Through the Notes we were able to be at Jolly Joe Timmer’s Grove when Bud Hundenski’s Band + Chuck Pendrak, Rick Gazda & Eddie Biegaj entertained. What an afternoon! One of the best ever to be at. Polka people, you missed a great one!

Thank You VFW Post 7165
Members & Clifton Citizens

Dear Editor,
The Clifton Cares Committee would like to thank the members of the VFW Post 7165 and the Canteen for their overwhelming support and dedication to our troops with sponsoring a pancake breakfast recently.
The response from Clifton citizens was wonderful and everyone enjoyed the bountiful breakfast and the comraderie. It was evident that morning that the VFW members are enthusiastic supporters of Clifton Cares and gave their all to our soldiers and to their country. The cooks and servers were awesome and donated their tip money to the cause as well. The many other surprises from the members left us speechless. In all, over $1700 was raised and the project will continue because of the generosity of all those supporting the day.
Thank you also to Plaza Bakery for their donation of bagels and to Roberta Smith for donating a beautiful afghan as a raffle prize. The kindness of these folks and many others made this fundraiser a huge success.
All the profit will be used for mailing packages to our soldiers (including 8 from Clifton) in Afghanistan. Our most recent mailing was for Christmas and contained candy, cookies, Christmas decorations and Christmas cards from the KinderCare students at the Boys and Girls Club, Girl Scouts from St. Philips RC Church and Seniors and Veterans at the Salute to Veterans Concert.
This project is ongoing and we will resume mailings in January. The following items are always needed and most requested by the soldiers (please leave your items in the lobby of City Hall): white socks, foot powder, Visine, deodorant, men’s and women’s shampoo, healthy snacks, cookies, candy, gum, word searches, Suduko and playing cards.
We are also in need of funding to mail the packages, so if you would like to donate the cost of one package ($13.45), please mail your check (payable to Lizz Gagnon) to: Clifton City Hall Tax Assessor’s Department, 900 Clifton Avenue, Clifton, N.J. 07013.
Thank you everyone for your ongoing support. Wishing everyone a very Happy New Year and hopeful are soldiers will be home soon.
